Those who share my penchant for obscure Victorian women writers might be interested in the Victorian Fiction Research Guides, managed by the ebullient Professor Andrew King. They were initially available through the Canterbury Christchurch website, but are now over at Victorian Secrets.
The Victorian Fiction Research Guides comprise bibliographical finding tools both for lesser-known writers active from the mid-nineteenth century to about 1910 and for work published in periodicals during the same period. Besides bibliography, many of the Guides include informative introductory essays by recognised academic scholars.
The authors include Jessie Fothergill, Sarah Grand, Caroline Clive, Rosa Nouchette Carey, Mary Cholmondeley, and Rosa Praed.
They provide an invaluable resource and are completely free. Aren’t Victorianists kind?
