I have the 1935 American first edition, the 1968 AMS Press edition, and the Harvester Press edition, but not first English edition. It is one of my favourite books. The scenes between Arthur and Carrie are immensely powerful and anticipate Philip and Mildred in Maugham's Of Human Bondage.

Hello Markus. I have the Harvester Press edition from 1985. I am publishing a new critical edition with Dr Debbie Harrison, hopefully before the end of the year. I'm impressed you have three editions - it's a rare beastie! How do you think it ranks in the Gissing canon?
