Yes, I know, I was supposed not to buy any more books for a while. However, I spotted Trollope’s Miss Mackenzie for £1.99 in the Oxfam bookshop in Salisbury. Seeing as there were three other books I really wanted and didn’t buy, this is actually progress. Having greatly enjoyed Rachel Ray (review to follow), this novel looks very promising. This time he takes a middle-aged spinster as his heroine and charts her experiences in assessing the merits of four very different suitors. What larks.

One of the joys of Trollope is he wrote so many novels I’m always stumbling upon another I haven’t read. This sounds good, so I will look out for it.
